How to Become an Ambassador

Are you a curious student who is open to learning new things? As a paid Ambassador, you will explore STEM opportunities in research, gain mentorship and experience leadership development. Students who complete our program will be exposed to paid internships and other programs at MUSC.

Apply before March 31, 2024 by 11:59 p.m. to be considered for our Fall 2024 cohort.

Program Dates

  • August 20 to October 29, 2024
  • Tuesdays from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. (dinner and pre-meeting activities from 4:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.)
  • We will meet at the Medical University of South Carolina, located downtown Charleston

Eligibility

  • At least 16 years old
  • A rising 11th-grade student in Charleston County
  • Interested in learning more about STEM opportunities in substance research
  • An individual from at least one of the groups that are underrepresented in STEM:
    • Alaska Native, Native Hawaiian, and other Pacific Islander
    • American Indian
    • Black or African American
    • Hispanic or Latino
    • An individual with disabilities
    • An individual impacted by socio-economic disparities
    • An individual impacted by gender disparities

Next Steps

  • Application Window: February 1, 2024 through March 31, 2024
  • Interview Invitations: April 14 through April 25, 2024
  • Selection Complete: May 1, 2024
  • If you were placed on our wait list, you will be notified by August 1, 2024

Students who are invited into the program will complete the following steps before the program officially starts. Our team will meet with each Ambassador and their guardian to go over these steps.

From May 1 through May 17, for 45 to 60 minutes, we will meet with each Ambassador and one of their guardians.
