Donna brings over 20 years of clinical leadership experience, most recently serving as Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer at Sentara Health in Virginia. Throughout her career, she has focused on strengthening nurse-physician collaboration, improving clinical outcomes and fostering cultures of safety and accountability. She’s also known for being a highly visible, engaged leader who values communication, transparency and team development.
Keith Player, M.D., FACS
Interim Chief Medical Officer, MUSC Health Pee Dee Division
Keith Player, M.D., FACS is Interim Chief Medical Officer for MUSC Health Pee Dee Division.
Dr. Player is a board-certified general surgeon with over 20 years of experience managing all aspects of General Surgery. Born and raised in Florence, SC, he received his undergraduate degree from Princeton University. He then returned to South Carolina, received his medical degree from the Medical University of South Carolina, and completed his General Surgery residency in Spartanburg, SC. Dr. Player proudly returned to his hometown in 1999, where he has provided General Surgery care for the people of the Pee Dee since then.
Dr. Player is board-certified in general surgery by the American Board of Surgery and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is experienced in all aspects of general surgery, including both laparoscopic and open surgery. Dr. Player particularly enjoys laparoscopic abdominal surgery with an emphasis on laparoscopic colon surgery. Dr. Player has developed broad-ranging skills that include thyroid and parathyroid surgery, breast surgery, skin cancer and melanoma surgery, surgery of the intestinal tract for both cancerous and noncancerous disease, and all varieties of hernia repair. He has gained a reputation as a primary provider of pediatric surgery in the Pee Dee area. Dr. Player has been active in hospital leadership activities, including being the Chairman of the Department of Surgery at a regional tertiary care center.
A lifelong resident of South Carolina who has lived most of his life in the Florence area, he is honored to provide the highest quality surgical care for the residents of northeastern South Carolina.
