Mary Rebecca Dean (Becky) joined the MUSC Health Women’s and Children’s team on April 20, 2015. She is the coordinator of the Advanced Fetal Care Center: a unique, collaborative initiative of MUSC Health's pediatric subspecialties and maternal fetal medicine specialists to provide integrated, patient-focused care for mother and unborn child.
MUSC Health has provided maternal fetal medicine specialty care for high-risk obstetric patients over the years, while its pediatrics team has provided superior surgical sub-specialty services at MUSC Children’s Hospital, one of the top-ranked children's hospitals in the Southeast, for decades. Now these two expert teams have come together to provide more streamlined care for South Carolina's children and moms.
Today Becky serves as a patient coordinator, bringing these two specialty services together in one location to better meet the needs of our patients and their families. She acts as a patient navigator for any family carrying a baby diagnosed with a significant illness that requires specialized care at birth and beyond. It is her responsibility to offer support and education to each and every family, coordinate appointments and consultations, and facilitate communication to and from our delivery teams as we all work toward the best possible outcomes for South Carolina’s tiniest patients.
Becky recently relocated from Ft. Lauderdale, FL where she worked in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) at Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital. She was also responsible for pioneering a thriving fetal care program there, and brings 11 years of combined bedside, education, and management experience to our patients.
In her personal time, she is a mommy to her 14-month-old daughter, Vivian. They spend most weekends either at the beach, the pool, or out on the water. Although she is proud to be a new addition to Summerville, SC – she is still a huge Miami Hurricanes football fan!
MUSC Health's new Advanced Fetal Care Center will provide integrated care to children with congenital anomalies.
