Whether this is your first pregnancy or your fourth, we are here to provide support through every step along the way. Classes are held in one of two locations:

Payment may be made at the time of the class, by cash or check.
Learn what to expect during labor, delivery, and postpartum: relaxation and breathing techniques, pain management, basic newborn care, breastfeeding, how to take care of yourself and your family after the baby is born. The downtown classes include a tour of the unit during the normal class times. However, one-day classes at North Charleston have a separate schedule for unit tours as outlined below.

At the North Charleston Medical Pavilion location, Third Floor:

Tours of the 5th floor Birthing Unit at MUSC are offered from 6 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. at the dates listed below. Please schedule your tour by calling, 843-792-5300. Each tour is limited to 6 patients (12 individuals total). Tours meet at in the lobby of MUSC's hospital. Please use the entrance off of the Horseshoe on Ashley Avenue.

Learn about normal newborn behavior, feeding patterns, signs of illness, safety, sleeping, bathing, immunizations, and solutions for other common concerns.
1 class, 1.5 hours, $10
All classes are from 5:30 to 7 p.m.
This class is offered at our downtown location – MUSC Medical Center, 2 West Classroom. Cost is $10. Please contact 843-792-5300 to register.
Learn how to perform CPR for infants up to one year of age from our certified American Heart Association instructors.
1 class, 1 hour, $10 per individual (exact cash or check made out to MUSC). Note: There is a 6 person maximum per class.
