Dr. Crowley has been with the program since 2007, first as the bariatric dietitian, and currently as Program Coordinator. In addition to her passion for facilitating behavior change with patients on their weight loss and maintenance journey, Nina’s has presented and authored publications on weight regain after bariatric surgery, health-related quality of life, binge eating behaviors, and food cravings. In her current role, Nina oversees and coordinates all aspects of our Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP), ensures continuous compliance with requirements, maintains policies, procedures, and processes, patient education, outcomes data collection, and quality improvement and research efforts. She serves as the liaison between the facility and the community, our bariatric team and our patients.
Beth has been an RN for over 30 years and has joined the MUSC family as our Bariatric Nurse Coordinator. Beth’s previous experience includes ER, OR, Clinical Sourcing, Bariatric Program Manager, and Legal Nurse Consultant which included being the lead consultant to Bariatric and General Surgeons. Beth is passionate about nursing and caring for the bariatric population and has spent the past 10 years focused on the bariatric surgical patient. She has maintained her CBN, Certified Bariatric Nurse certification for the past 8 years. Beth’s role includes collaborating with the entire bariatric team to ensure optimization of the bariatric surgical patients – from entry into the program to the post-operative phase. She works closely with the Program Coordinator on compliance requirements, policies, and patient/staff education to ensure continuation of accreditation from MBSAQIP, the accreditation standard for bariatric surgery centers.
Lisa has been with the program since 2006 and brings many years of experience in the medical administration field. As the patient liaison she builds relationships with each patient and takes the time to really get to know each person and creates the best experience for all. She is the contact person for the program and works with patients throughout the pre-surgical process. She is responsible for ensuring that all insurance and clinical requirements are met and each person’s path to surgery is as smooth and uncomplicated as possible.
Janine has been with the program since 2014, but has been with MUSC since 2008, formerly as a unit secretary on 6 East of Ashley River Tower where bariatric patients go after their surgery. Janine has a bachelors in biology, and she hails from Buffalo, New York. As the specialty coordination assistant, she is the first voice you hear when you call the bariatric program, and she coordinates referrals, appointments, and gets you started in the pipeline for the bariatric surgery program. Janine is responsible for helping your pre-surgery experience go smoothly and she works on every patient like they are her number one priority!
