Tele-EEG

Electroencephalograms (EEG) examine the electrical activity of the brain to detect abnormalities for complex neurologic disorders, most commonly seizures. This test is essential in providing accurate determination of neurological activity and disruption. EEG is also used to assist with proper diagnosis and treatment options for patients. Providing full-time coverage for the interpretation of both routine and urgent EEGs, tele-EEG serves as a supportive service to the teleneurology program or as a stand-alone service.

Many community hospitals may have the ability to perform an EEG, but do not have the specially-trained neurophysiologist on staff to interpret the EEG. The tele-EEG program utilizes MUSC Health’s neurophysiologists who have a vast amount of experience and specialty training to provide the most accurate diagnoses and treat complex neurological conditions.
