J. Rhet Tucker, DMD, FACP, is an assistant professor of otolaryngology – head and neck surgery. Dr. Tucker graduated from Florida State University in 2001 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish. He then attended the University of Pennsylvania and completed his dental education. He joined the United States Army and completed a one-year advanced education in general dentistry program at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. Following a year of general dentistry practice, he began his prosthodontic training at Fort Gordon, in Augusta, Georgia. He was then assigned as a prosthodontic mentor at Fort Benning, Georgia, where he mentored one-year residents in prosthodontics. He successfully challenged the American Board of Prosthodontics in the fall of 2011, and became a fellow in the American College of Prosthodontics. In 2013 he was voted mentor of the year, and in 2014 separated from the Army to attend the maxillofacial prosthodontic and oncologic dentistry fellowship in Houston, Texas. He completed the fellowship in 2015 and moved his family to South Carolina to become part of the MUSC team.
