Dr Ronald J Teufel II serves as an Associate Professor at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) in the Pediatric Hospitalist Section of the General Pediatrics Division. He serves as the Director of the Pediatric Hospitalist Section with research interest and training within Health Services Research (HSR). His research interests include topics that incorporate both HSR and Pediatric Hospital Medicine including: Health Information Technology (HIT), Quality Improvement in the care of hospitalized children, and Pediatric Asthma. By applying his training in HSR, from his Academic Generalist Fellowship, his recent work has focused on evaluating inpatient pediatric healthcare quality on local (acute care of asthma), regional (assess South Carolina asthma care with Medicaid data), and national level (evaluating the use of HIT across the nation). Additionally, he enjoys performing many educational activities including teaching Evidence-Based Medicine to residents and scientific writing to resident physicians, academic fellows, and junior faculty.
