Biography

Mahsa Javid, M.D., Ph.D., FRCS is an academic endocrine surgeon and assistant professor of surgery at the Medical University of South Carolina. She obtained her masters (1997) and medical (1999) degrees from the University of Cambridge, England. She also completed a Ph.D., investigating the molecular genetics and novel therapies for endocrine tumors including inherited endocrine tumor susceptibility syndromes at the University of Oxford in 2012. She completed her residency and fellowship in general surgery at the University of Oxford, England, in 2014. She completed a fellowship in endocrine surgery at Yale University School of Medicine in 2015 and worked as an associate research scientist at Yale until 2017. She has performed over 2500 operations, including 700 endocrine surgeries.

Her clinical interests include thyroid, parathyroid, and adrenal surgery. She performs minimally invasive procedures for endocrine tumors, including laparoscopic and retroperitoneoscopic surgical techniques for adrenal glands. Her research focuses on investigating the formation of endocrine tumors and finding new treatments to improve their management.
