Biography

Before entering academic family medicine, Dr. David Garr worked for six years as the medical director of Family Practice Group, a National Health Service Corps practice in rural Tooele, Utah. He then moved to Denver, Colorado where he taught for four years in a family medicine residency program. He relocated to Charleston in 1985 when he accepted a teaching position at MUSC.

Dr. Garr's clinical interests include training physicians to become community responsive practitioners, health promotion/disease prevention, practice-based research and medical ethics.
