Parking at MUSC Health

Outpatient Parking

Self-parking for outpatients is $.75 per half hour, up to a maximum of $3 in the Ashley-Rutledge, Jonathan Lucas, or Courtenay Drive garage. If parking exceeds two hours, all charges over $3 will be paid by the hospital; but to receive this courtesy the ticket must be validated. Check with reception staff in the area where you receive your care.

Valet parking is available for patients and families/visitors of patients at four locations on our downtown campus, for a fee of $8. Drive your vehicle to the main entrance of the following buildings for valet service, Monday thru Friday from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., as available: Ashley River Tower, Rutledge Tower, Hollings Cancer Center, and Clinical Sciences Building.

The MUSC Health Patient Shuttle system provides a free and convenient way for patients to travel between buildings on our downtown campus.

Inpatient Parking

Inpatients' families and visitors may park for $.75 per half hour. The maximum daily rate (up to 24 hours) is $6. To receive the reduced rate, the visitor should provide the patient's last name and room number to the cashier when exiting the parking facility. The cashier will issue a receipt. This will allow unlimited additional exits during the 24-hour period at no charge.

Mobility-Impaired Patients/Handicapped Parking

All MUSC public parking locations offer accessible parking. For wheelchair assistance, use a courtesy phone near an elevator or call 843-876-0101 (7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday thru Friday) from your cell phone. South Carolina State law provides that there is no charge for parking in metered or timed facilities for vehicles which display a handicap plate or placard and which are driven by or transporting the handicapped individual. If the handicapped individual is not in the vehicle, the posted parking rate applies.

Charleston Peninsula Medical District

The Master Facilities Plan is part of the larger Charleston Peninsula Medical District Project. The medical facilities within the district include, Medical University of South Carolina, Roper Hospital and the Ralph H. Johnson VA Medical Center.
The area’s medical institutions partnered to create the medical district in 2015. The district is a well-mapped, pedestrian-friendly area that emphasizes green space, mobility and safety to the more than 30,000 people who work in or visit there daily.
The Medical District lies within Cannon Street on the north, just beyond Calhoun Street on the South, Lockwood Drive on the west and Rutledge Avenue on the east.
The map below displays emergency rooms, hospitals, medical offices/clinics, educational facilities, public venues, parking facilities, transportation and related services. The majority of this district boundary is within the smoke-free City of Charleston medical district.
