The VIP allows you to volunteer your language skills to MUSC Health. The population we serve is very diverse and comes from a wide range of countries in the world, most of them are not fluent in English.
What will I be doing?
Under the direct supervision of the Interpreters Services Coordinator, the Volunteer Interpreter will provide interpreting services to patients who are unable to communicate in English. As an integral member of the medical team the Volunteer Interpreter will provide linguistic support in favor of the successful daily operations of the program. This will include the following points:

MUSC Health has been approved by the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) , the Certification Commission for Healthcare Interpreters (CCHI), and International Medical Interpreters Association (IMIA), as an administrator for Continuing Education Units (CEUs). CEUs will be offered for all training provided, sponsored, or co-sponsored by MUSC Health.
The Interpreter Training Center courses are offered within the MUSC Health Center for Learning. The Center features large, state-of-the-art classrooms and free, convenient parking.
