MUSC getting ready for the Lowcountry Heart Walk

The Lowcountry Heart Walk will take place on Saturday, September 27 and we at MUSC couldn’t be more excited. We will be joining with more than a million people in over 300 cities as we take a stand (or a walk!) against heart disease and help save lives.

The funds the walk raises will support putting the most recent, valuable research into the hands of doctors – maybe even your doctor. These funds will also support groundbreaking pediatric and stroke research. Each year almost 36,000 babies are born with heart defects – this research can be key to saving babies lives.

Which Way to the Lowcountry Heart Walk?
We will be raising money, building awareness and having fun at this event in Liberty Square in downtown Charleston. The activities will begin at 8 am and the walk will begin at 9 am. Do stop by our tent for information, fun for the kids and a free pair of MUSC Health sunglasses (for the first 2,000 people.)

If you are ready to walk, join one of the many teams participating in this event, including one of ours. Find more information here. Or simply come out for the fun and cheer on the walkers. We'll even give you a pair of sunglasses just for being there.

MUSC Hollings Cancer Center and Kiawah Island Golf Resort have teamed up to host a celebration of breast cancer awareness, survivorship and wellness education. Special guest Carolyn Murray from WCBD/Channel 2 will act as our emcee for the October 4th event, which will feature fitness and cooking demonstrations, educational talks led by Hollings' cancer experts, kids' activities, music and more. This is a free community event with activities for the whole family - all are invited.
