Isabel is a Certified Medical Interpreter in Spanish (CMI-Spanish) and holds a B.A. degree in English Literature & Creative Writing from Emerson College in Boston, MA. She started her professional career as an interpreter in 1996 and joined MUSC in 2005. She is also a authorized trainer for Bridging the Gap – Medical Interpreter Training.
Sam Cogdell completed graduate studies in Hispanic literature and has taught Spanish language and Latin American literature since 1980. He has been a Spanish-English staff medical interpreter at MUSC since 2003 and instructor of Spanish for health care professions in the MUSC Interprofessional curriculum. He is an American Translators Association certified translator (Spanish into English) and an authorized trainer for the medical interpreting curriculum Bridging the Gap.
