Administrative Fellowship Program

The MUSC Health Administrative Fellowship is a highly selective one-year, post-graduate training program in a comprehensive academic health system that allows highly qualified graduates to enhance their conceptual knowledge base and skills.

Each year, fellows are selected to participate in this multi-faceted program spanning the state of South Carolina with placements in Charleston, Columbia, Florence, Greenville, and Lancaster. No matter their interests, fellows are immersed in a rotational and project-based program. Under the guidance of one of our executive preceptors, fellows are challenged and prepared for the next step in their health administration careers.

Program Structure

The term "structured flexibility" most accurately describes the design of the MUSC Health Fellowship. The content of the experience is tailored to best match the individual and organizational needs.

In addition to predetermined project opportunities, leadership from across the MUSC enterprise will submit potential projects for completion by selected fellows during the 12-month appointment. Projects will offer hands-on experience promoting personal learning and leadership development:

  • 40% Self-directed project work aligned with areas of interest and professional goals
  • 30% Preceptor-directed project work
  • 20% Administrative and clinical rotations
  • 5% Longitudinal Capstone Project
  • 5% Professional Development

Fellows have the discretion to select projects which best fit their areas of interest and desired exposure outside of their appointed department.

Preceptor-Directed Program is Designed to

  • nurture independence
  • foster experiential learning
  • be for individuals who have recently obtained a master’s degree
  • be under the direction of a Senior Executive

Structure

  • Mix of rotations in specific departments as well as general assignments
  • Exposure to senior leadership and strategic thinking
